If there is anything in the world you need to know about Lisa Bazzle, it is that she absolutely dazzles. As a lifelong baker and the owner of Sweet Deliveries Bakery in North Providence, Lisa has been dazzling customers for over three years, with her cakes, cupcakes, cookies, muffins, cannolis, brownies, pastries, (and so much more). She dazzles with her creativity, her flavors, her originality, and her pure talent. Lisa Bazzle is a baker who knows her way around a kitchen – and around your sweet tooths!
Ironically, Lisa Bazzle knows more about teeth than she knows about your “sweet tooth,” because for most of her career, she worked in a dentist’s office. When Covid-19 hit and dental practices temporarily closed, Lisa had a rare and unexpected opportunity to help her sister Judy and her sister’s husband, who was living with ALS. Judy was an ardent fund-raiser in the fight against Muscular Dystrophy, who no longer had access to her usual resources during the shutdown of the pandemic.
With some brainstorming and the encouragement of her sister, Lisa came up with a brilliant way to raise some money for a worthy and personal cause, while tapping into her passion for baking. Thus, was born the “Boozy Cupcake of the Month,” by Lisa Bazzle. Creating a different iteration of her famous booze-flavored cupcakes each month, she baked, and Judy and Judy’s son Anthony, delivered (contact-free, of course) cupcakes to cupcake lovers throughout the state. Money was raised in a difficult time. And Lisa’s life was forever changed.
At age forty, and while on a hiatus from her dental work, Lisa went “back-to-school.” She went to Johnson & Wales and studied Baking & Pastry Arts. What a bold move! For someone who had always loved to bake, and who had always baked for her friends and family, this was a “dream come true.”
Armed with the legitimacy of this training under her apron, Lisa went back to work, when the dental practice re-opened, and the world resumed a sense of normalcy. But Lisa didn’t want “normalcy” anymore, she wanted to bake.
It seemed that fate was on her side when, a few years later, another rare and unexpected opportunity presented itself to this eager baker. A small vacant shop in the Centerdale section of North Providence had a “For Rent” sign on it. After some twists and turns, Lisa was able to rent this space and after some major renovation work, Sweet Deliveries Bakery opened its doors. Lisa left the dental practice, and never turned back.
Today, Lisa pours all her energy, talent, passion, and skill into this increasingly popular bakery in the city. Every day, she makes baked goods which thrill customers from all around the state. Every night, Lisa dreams of new recipes, new flavor combinations, new creations! She has a knack for taking old family recipes and adding her flair and taste.
While lovers of classic (and not so classic) baked goods love Lisa’s tasty confections, Sweet Deliveries Bakery offers something more original and sought-after than her cookies, cakes, cupcakes, brownies, cannolis, muffins, pastries, scones (and so much more!). This bakery is true to its name. It actually DELIVERS! With 24 hours-notice (unless something is available at the time), you can make a special request and have your CRAVING delivered right to your door. This is when Lisa relies on her nephew, Anthony, who not only helps out in the bakery, but is also its reliable delivery driver.
Having treats delivered to your door can make the best gift, especially if you are somewhere far from Sweet Deliveries, or lack a way to get to the bakery. Want to send your favorite college student a gift for good luck on an exam? Call Sweet Deliveries. Want to get a delectable snack to a sick friend across the state? Call Sweet Deliveries. Want to surprise a friend on her birthday? Call Sweet Deliveries. The possibilities are endless!
And the possibilities are endless when it comes to what Lisa bakes at this ever-growing bakery. One of her signature creations is her Cupcake Bouquets. Imagine an edible centerpiece of twelve moist cupcakes, piled high with fluffy frosting, at your next event. The centerpieces can be made to look like real flowers – hydrangeas, roses, carnations, daisies! If you can imagine it, Lisa has probably already thought of it! These are so original and so versatile. To see samples of all of Lisa’s colorful creations, be sure to check out her ever-changing website.
Beyond her obvious talent as a baker, what stands out about Lisa Bazzle is her genuine passion for what she does. A midlife career change that is now a true labor of love. This passion manifests itself in her work, and in the joy and gratitude she feels for her customers.
If you want to get Lisa excited, let her talk about how she feels, when lingering with them over a cup of coffee and a homemade scone or muffin (which she changes every week!) in the bakery. Let her tell you about the cookie decorating parties she holds for groups of adults and children alike. Let her tell you about lying awake at night thinking of how to improve or diversify her “boozy cupcakes,” (yes, she is still making them!). Nothing makes her happier than making her customers happy.
And what makes customers happier than celebrating the season with trays of custom Christmas cookies and cheerful, holiday inspired confections? How about a free event on December 14th, where guests of the bakery can enjoy visits from the Grinch, Santa and his favorite Elf, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm (think hot chocolate, baked goods and more).
