John Ferrucci, owner of Greenskeeper Inc. in Glocester, is more than just a landscaper. He was just fifteen when he started cutting grass, and for most kids that age it is a chore that is dreaded. However, for Ferrucci, as he learned more about everything that the work entailed, he developed a real passion for it and it became a job, and then a career, and it is now a successful business. In operation since 1986, Greenskeeper Inc. can provide everything that a person can envision for their home or business when it comes to outdoor landscape and architectural concepts. “Growing up, I learned a lot from working for Gary Pontarelli at GP landscaping,” Ferrucci says. “I used to walk from my house to Gary’s lot. He got me started. He taught me so much, including how to drive a stick shift. He was a great mentor for me.”

Ferrucci attended URI and earned a degree in Agriculture and Plant Soil Science, and not long after graduating he established Greenskeeper Inc.
“I started with single lawnmower, a trimmer and a leaf blower,” Ferrucci says. “For a while, it was a one-man operation, but I quickly build a devoted customer base one customer at a time.”
Today, Ferrucci runs a multi-million dollar company with fourteen full-time employees, including his own children.
“Both of my sons, rather than going to college, came into the business with me,” Ferrucci says. “They do a lot of the hardscraping and construction work, operating the bigger machinery. So, we’ve really expanded a lot to get to the point where we are today.”
Celebrating forty years in business this season, Ferrucci is still going strong.
“We do a considerable amount of hardscaping these days,” Ferrucci says. “Everything from patios and walkways to firepits, outdoor kitchens, swimming pools decks, and any other landscape-architectural designs that someone has in mind. You name it, we’ve done it.”
